dream: a : a strongly desired goal or purpose
b : a visionary creation of the imagination
how many of your have these? I'm going to take a guess that around 100% of you do. Now let me ask you this, do you follow these "dreams" or do you simply set them aside only to rely on something a little more..attainable? I know it can be easy to say "I want to [fill in dream here]" but it can be very hard to actually carry that dream out, or follow it, as most people would say. I'm going to share something with you, my dream. (no not in a MLK Jr. kind of way)
I wake up every morning to the sunshine right out my window. I hear the birds admire the clouds and am completely amazed by the expanse of blue (or grey) sky above me. Its what I do, its what I've always done. I never remember a time when I didn't want to be outside. hell, I subject myself to 100+ degree weather every summer in a sticky hot chair simply because I would hate to be sitting inside. I remember being a kid in the mountains with my family and wanting to cry because I was an 8 year old in shock of the mountain underneath my skis. Spending every second I could in the cool oceans off our Crystal Coast. I loved it. I still do. So, what exactly is my dream you ask? to continuously wake up every morning with the same love for the outdoors. to love what I do, how I do it, and where I do it. my motto is: don't sacrifice your passion, for a paycheck. and that's exactly how I plan to keep things. I'm not going to settle for an easier route. I don't care if it takes forever, I will be dammed if I spend my life wondering what could have been. I'm not out to here to say that I'm never going to use my college degrees, or that I will hate any job that involves them, what I'm saying is that I refuse to do something I don't love. no matter what.
I hope you all will do this too. no matter what you love, or who you love. you can't give up on it. you have that fire in your heart for a reason, so why not let it burn? why not start a wildfire? don't just sit back and expect people to do everything for you. hate to break it to ya, but that time has come and gone.
10,000 hours folks. that's all you need.
